Superman Legacy Will Direct by James Gunn for the Dcu

It’s official that the director of Guardians of the Galaxy and now CO-head of DC Studios, James Gunn, will direct the upcoming Superman reboot, Superman: Legacy. Gunn uses social media to share the news, and also gives an insight into what will shape his view of the Man of Steel, and honors his father, who died a few years ago. “Yes, I’m running Superman: Legacy, that on the 11th my brother Matt told me that when he saw the release date, he started crying. I asked him why. He said, “Man, it’s dad’s birthday.”I hadn’t noticed,” said the filmmaker, who is best known for directing the releases of Super, Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the DC film the Suicide Squad talked about his decision to bring Superman back to the big screen.

What exactly all this means for Superman: Legacy remains to be seen, but it is clear that Gunn has a real passion for the character. In addition to his critically acclaimed comic book movie, this can only be good news for the Man of Steel and his rebooted return.

Superman: Legacy launches DCU

What we know about the direction of Superman: Legacy is that it will not be a reboot and the recalibrated DCU will start. Who now has James Gunn and producer Peter Safran as the main actors. “This is not an origin story,” Safran revealed. “It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of the justice of the truth and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks kindness is old-fashioned.”Superman: Legacy is scheduled for release on September 11. It will be released in July 2025.

Superman: Legacy will be followed by the superhero team movie The Authority, a Batman project titled the Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a reboot of Swamp Thing, a Wonder Woman prequel series titled Paradise Lost, the animated series Creature Commandos, an Amanda Waller-centric series, a Green Lantern series titled Lanterns, and a series about Booster Gold.

Before James Gunn realizes his vision of Superman, he will first start his Marvel saga with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In the sequel, Peter Quill leads the Guardians on a peril mission that could lead to the dissolution of the team in order to protect the beloved member Rocket. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2023 as part of the fifth phase of the MCU.
